1. Who can use the membership?
Your membership includes you, your spouse and all legal dependents.
2. How much does it cost when I call the doctor?
Nothing. There is no additional cost to use the telehealth service (Teladoc). Access doctors 24/7/365.
3. What about customer support?
We provide you with our Toll-Free Customer service number in case you have any questions. Your membership cards also have the phone numbers directly for all provider networks. Plus, you get a book with all the details for each benefit and online access to most all information. Based on your zip code, we even print the closest providers for handy reference in the back of your book. You can locate providers via our member website and even get specific pricing on your prescriptions instantly.
4. Does it work with my insurance plan?
YES! This is not insurance but your membership saves you money on your out-of-pocket expenses. So, if you use Teladoc, you avoid doctor’s office visit fee for non-emergency issues. When you utilize the national provider networks, you can get pre-negotiated savings and discounts on healthcare. You always have the option of paying for services and then submitting receipts towards your deductibles.
5. When can I start using my benefits?
As soon as you receive your membership card and benefit book. Upon order, your membership materials are printed within 72 hours and mailed out. Typically, you will receive your information within 7 to 10 business days.
6. How do I use my benefits?
Upon completion of your order, you will receive your Membership Cards and Benefit Book detailing all of the benefits, how to use each benefit, and our toll free customer support number. For the Teladoc benefit, you must register by completing a short medical profile for each member prior to use so that the physicians can refer to it when discussing your symptoms. For most other benefits, you just show your ID card to receive the discounts at the time of service.
7. Can I trust the Teladoc physicians?
Teladoc physicians are U.S. based and board-certified with an average of 15 years in medical practice. Each physician is board-certified by state. So, whenever you need a doctor from home or when traveling, the physician contacting you will be in the same state from where you are physically located. Teladoc physicians are highly credentialed and in their 14 year history, Teladoc has never had a malpractice claim. They will only treat conditions that are acute, non-emergency illnesses so they will not hesitate to direct you to a local physician or urgent care facility if they believe your condition needs a more definitive diagnosis or on-site care by a physician.
8. What prescriptions can the doctors issue?
The Teladoc physician can prescribe medications that are not considered controlled substances by the DEA. The most common medications prescribed are Amoxicillin™, Azithromycin™, Bactrim DS™, Augmentin™, Cipro™, Tessalon Perles™, Flonase Nasal Spray™, Pyridium™, Prednisone™, and Diflucan™. If you are traveling and forget or lose your medication, Teladoc may be able to refill other medications on a short term basis (if not a controlled substance).
